Delivery area

Marvila: riverside warehouses and hillside estates

Marvila covers a wide stretch of eastern Lisbon: wine warehouses and galleries by the river, large housing estates on the hill and new development in between.

Coverage across the whole city of Lisbon.

This area is part of our tobacco shop delivery in Lisbon.

What the area is like

Two levels

The riverside strip and the hillside estates behave like different neighbourhoods with different access.

Warehouses and galleries

Rua do Açúcar and the streets around it hold reused warehouses, breweries and art spaces.

Large estates

Blocks with numbered entrances and internal courtyards, where the entrance number is the real address.

Long distances

The area is large and spread out, so two Marvila addresses can be far apart.

Getting around

  • No metro; Braço de Prata and Marvila train stations plus riverside bus routes.
  • Good car access along the river and from Avenida Infante Dom Henrique.
  • Inside the estates, access is through courtyards and numbered entrances.
  • Street lighting and signage vary a lot between the riverside and the hill.

Typical hours

Daytime

Logistics, workshops and local commerce.

Evening

Bars and galleries on the riverside strip at weekends.

Late

Quiet, with the estates residential and the warehouses closed.

At night, 7pm to 5am

The riverside bars keep a small area active at weekends; everywhere else is residential and still. Because the area is so spread out, saying whether you are by the river or up on the hill changes the whole route.

How to describe your location here

Say river side or hill side first, then the street and the entrance number. In an estate, the entrance number is more useful than the block name.

How delivery works here

Questions about Marvila

Is Marvila one neighbourhood?
In practice it is two: the riverside warehouse strip and the housing estates on the hill above it.
How do you reach an estate address?
Through the numbered entrance on the courtyard, which is why that number matters more than the block name.
Is there a metro station?
No. The train stations at Braço de Prata and Marvila and the riverside buses are the public transport here.
