The avenue and the hill
Avenida 24 de Julho is flat and wide; everything north of it climbs quickly towards Lapa and Madragoa.
Largo de Santos
The square is the recognisable centre of the area and the easiest place to arrange a meeting point.
Madragoa behind it
The old narrow streets of Madragoa start a block up, with small houses and tight corners.
Nightlife along the river
